Zumba and Zumba Toning

Yes, I’m officially a Zumba Instructor!

Let’s face it, working out can be healthy, rewarding and beneficial. But for many people, it’s never been known to be an exhilarating experience… that is, until now!

The Zumba program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. The goal is simple: I want you to want to work out, to love working out, and to get hooked. Zumba participants achieve long-term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one exciting hour of calorie-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for life!

The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix, and you’ve got a Zumba class!

Zumba

In a basic Zumba class, you’ll learn four basic rhythms (merengue, salsa, cumbia, reggaeton). After a couple of classes, I’ll incorporate four more rhythms (belly dance, flamenco, tango, samba) while reinforcing the Zumba formula for success in an easy, effective class for everyone.

Zumba Toning

This class blends body-sculpting techniques and specific Zumba moves into one calorie-burning, strength-training class. You’ll use weighted, maraca-like Zumba Toning Sticks to enhance rhythm, build strength and tone all the target zones.

Whales! Photo Expedition (July 6-10, 2009)

We’ll be observing and photographing the productive humpback whale feeding areas near Auke Bay, Shelter Island, and Admiralty Island, and at Icy Strait and Pt. Adolphus, on the northern coast of Chichagof Island. We also hope to see and photograph orcas, sea lions, sea otters, harbor porpoises, harbor seals, dall’s porpoises, brown and black bears, eagles, and some of the numerous shore birds which inhabit the rainforest and coastal areas of Southeast Alaska

The whale behaviors we’ll see during this expedition are unbelievable. The itinerary is relaxed, allowing ample time for photographing the wildlife and scenery. We’ll take time for hiking, kayaking, relaxing, and beach combing. On this five-day expedition, we’ll cruise through an amazing wilderness aboard the Kirsten Anne, a luxurious 49′ ketch operated by Captain Neil Nickerson and Alaska Sailing Charters. This sailboat offers an outstanding platform from which to photograph the incomparable humpback whales and wildlife of Southeast Alaska.
